Since I live in a city that’s packed with great creative people in my field, I decided to take the plunge and register to take part in my very first web conference. I’m excited about getting to see some inspirational speakers – some of whom write blogs and websites that I’ve read for years.

Via brand new: The Moulin Rouge has a new identity.

The logo is great. What’s even greater is the website belonging to the Agency that created it: John Brightman. The flash preloader instructs you to have a cigar while you wait — so de riguer.

This happened while I was searching amazon for new coathangers to purchase. Disturbing.

Banksy’s latest work: An ‘exhibit’ at the City Museum and Art Gallery in Bristol, England.

Watch the video. Sit through the BBC presenter’s rather watered-down explanation of the exhibit, talking about Banksy’s infamous ‘chicken nugget‘ installation as a ‘sort of…statement about fast food’. The real gem is at the end (about 1:53), when you find out that the Museum’s Director, one of a few people who actually knew the exhibit was being constructed, never even met Banksy.

This is the first ‘official’ exhibit of Banksy’s work – the ‘Village Pet Store and Charcoal Grill‘ was less an exhibit, and more of a reappropriation of space. While I applaud the fact that an artist so prolific within contemporary culture has now achieved official status, I can’t help lamenting that you can now take the ‘graffiti’ out of his previous title of ‘graffiti artist’. The great of great ironies? Googling graffiti artist brings up Banksy as it’s first result.

The other night, after the Wednesday night Law & Order triple bill (Criminal Intent, SVU and regular old Jeremy Sisto) I had my TV tuned to the late night news. That night’s “special report” was an inside exposé into ‘sexting‘ as a wide-spread (!!!) phenomenon among teenagers.

It made me think about other potential mobile-phone-text-based phenomena that might arrive after the wave of sexting:

• mexting: texting Mexicans
• chexting: sending a text whilst eating a delicious pretzel, cracker and cereal combo
• dyslexting: typing backwards
• hexting: sending a text that curses someone
• al frexto: texting outside
• selextive: not answering all of your texts
• flexting: texting people about your latest accomplishments at the gym
